World of Hyatt

Not a route to business class. Even at the 2026 sale price an airline mile bought through Hyatt costs over 4 US cents; keep Hyatt points for hotel stays and send Chase or Bilt points straight to the airline instead.

DataBuying points research, 2026 sales on record

As ofOct 8, 2026

Use it for

  • Finishing an Aeroplan booking with leftover Hyatt points (earned, not bought): 2 Hyatt points become 1 Aeroplan point instantly since 15 July 2026, from 5,000 points in 1,000-point steps; for example 10,000 Hyatt points cover the last 5,000 of a 60,000-point US East Coast to Europe business award (plus CAD 39 partner fee and about USD 60 to 100 in taxes)
  • Aeroplan flight reward certificate: 50,000 Hyatt points for a 30,000-point certificate usable on Air Canada and partner flights, half of a 60,000-point transatlantic business award (Frequent Miler calls it very poor value)
  • American AAdvantage top-up: 5,000 Hyatt points become 2,000 miles, with a bonus on 50,000-point transfers, toward JAL business US to Japan at 60,000 miles plus about USD 50 in taxes

Do not use it for

  • Buying Hyatt points for airline miles: at the best 2026 price of 2.08 US cents and 5:2 to most airlines, a mile costs about 4.2 to 5.2 cents, more than double Marriott's 1.94
  • Time-sensitive transfers to airlines other than Aeroplan: Hyatt quotes up to 6 to 8 weeks for most airline partners (reported)
  • Planning on volume: the purchase cap is 55,000 points a calendar year, enough for one 50,000-point airline transfer

Where to search

Hyatt sells no flights. For the Aeroplan route search on aeroplan.com, the strongest free Star Alliance search, and convert only after you see bookable space; because the conversion processes immediately you can do it at the moment of booking. For other airline partners the transfer can take weeks, so use them only for flexible trips months away.

How to book, step by step

  1. Check whether you need Hyatt at all: if you hold Chase or Bilt points, transfer those 1:1 to Aeroplan or the airline directly rather than 2:1 through Hyatt.
  2. Find the award on aeroplan.com while logged in and take it to the payment page to see the points, the CAD 39 partner booking fee and the taxes.
  3. In your World of Hyatt account choose the conversion to Aeroplan: minimum 5,000 Hyatt points, then 1,000-point steps, at 2 Hyatt points per Aeroplan point; it posts immediately.
  4. If a few thousand points are missing, buy Hyatt points online (3,000 minimum, 55,000 a year cap; the account must reportedly be at least 60 days old); a 20 percent discount ran 6 August to 5 October 2026.
  5. Book the award on aeroplan.com straight away, before the space moves.
  6. For any other airline partner, convert in a 50,000-point block to collect the bonus, confirm the name matches the airline account, and allow several weeks before the miles arrive.

When you need to phone

Not needed for most bookings; the Aeroplan conversion is done online.

Fees

No conversion fee reported. Points cost 2.6 US cents standard; 2026 promotions alternated between a 20 percent discount (2.08 cents) and a 20 percent bonus (about 2.17 cents). Award fees are charged by the airline, for example CAD 39 per partner booking on Aeroplan.

Surcharges

Set by the airline you convert to. Aeroplan adds no fuel surcharges on any partner; AAdvantage adds them only on British Airways flights.

Getting points in

Chase Ultimate Rewards 1:1 and Bilt 1:1, both US only; no non-US bank currency transfers to Hyatt. Aeroplan Elite members can also convert Aeroplan points into Hyatt points at 2:1, the reverse direction.

Booking for other people

Airline conversions must go to an account in your own name. Rules for moving points between Hyatt members were not rechecked for 2026; confirm on hyatt.com before relying on them.

Strengths and traps

  • Best hotel transfer partner for Chase and Bilt points at 1:1
  • Near-continuous 20 percent discounts or bonuses in 2026
  • Since 15 July 2026, instant 2:1 conversion to Aeroplan, and 50,000 Hyatt points buy a 30,000-point Aeroplan certificate
  • Trap: Most airline transfers at 2.5:1 make a mile cost about 5.2 cents; even the new 2:1 Aeroplan route costs about 4.3 cents bought, so never buy Hyatt for airline miles
  • Trap: Cap of 55,000 points a year; account must be 60 days old

Transfers in from: Chase UR, Bilt.

The 60-day account-age rule for buying and the 6 to 8 week transfer time are reported, not confirmed.
